Some disadvantaged communities in South Auckland had high rates of recycling contamination, which puts pressure on the sorting systems at the recycling centre and results in more waste going to landfill.

As part of the Paiheretia initiative, MSD was training its frontline (Māori) case managers in how to work with tāne and their whānau in contact with the Justice system. The purpose was to support tāne and their whānau back into wellness and employment.
Increasing adherence to Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) guidelines in Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) facilities

As part of the Government’s response to COVID-19, whānau who tested positive for COVID-19 were placed in MIQ facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. A disproportionate number of community cases were Māori and Pasifika. The Ministry wanted to understand what would help MIQ guests to follow the IPC rules.
Review of the equity response to COVID-19

With several waves of COVID-19 having swept through New Zealand, the Ministry wanted to take an equity lens and understand what could be done to reduce inequities for Māori, Pasifika and people with disabilities during future pandemics.
